My name is Kelley Young; the “KY” in KY Travel. After spending most of my life in the Boston area, taking occasional family trips within New England, I finally started branching out on my own after high school. My first solo trip was a 24-hour drive to Myrtle Beach, wherein I fell asleep at the wheel, spent the night at the first rest stop over the NC border, ended up extending my stay and ran into negative numbers in my bank account...then followed my GPS to Vermont on the trip home. I have since formed a system of organization to make sure all future trips run a little more smoothly. This blog is to share the success of those trips with a little creativity and a lot of enthusiasm. ~ky

Concord, New Hampshire
DAY 2

A good night sleep felt incredible! We got up around 9:00AM, had breakfast at Friendly’s and met up with my parents and Mikey at Meadow Ledge Farm. We picked apples, had their absolutely delicious homemade apple doughnuts and followed my parents back to Joanne’s.

Somewhere around 3:00PM, my parents headed home, stopping for dinner at KFC on the way to 95 S. Lianne and I joined them before spending about a half hour at the mall across the street from Gothic Tattoo.

When 6:00PM came around, I was pretty nervous and we both just wanted to get home. I wanted my tattoo on my right shoulder blade. I was aiming for a spot far enough away from bone and muscle so it wouldn’t hurt too much. I was pleasantly surprised when it didn’t.

The chair was comfortable and I had Lianne and Brenda to talk to, Paul coming in now and again to see the progress. It wasn’t until she got to the THIRD layer of ink that it got painful. That’s when my body reacted to the pain and Brenda gave me some chocolate to get my blood sugar up so we could finish.

Once it was finished, they took a picture for their collection and we finally hit the road. My shoulder tingled the whole way, hurting a little every now and then and I had to sit on the edge of the seat to keep my back from touching. It was probably the most uncomfortable car ride of my life, but totally worth it.

We got to her house somewhere around midnight, greeted by her parents and her boyfriend Brian. Since I couldn’t reach behind me to clean my tattoo - with a wet washcloth and soap, it hurt just thinking about it and it’s hard to deliberately cause pain to yourself, plus, it hurt too much to bend that way so soon after getting it - Lianne cleaned it for me. Then we took our own picture before she dropped me off at home. She offered to let me to spend the night, but I wanted my bed. And I knew that would be difficult enough and, as grateful as I was for all her help, I was really getting tired of being taken care of.

Turns out sleeping on my stomach wasn’t all that hard afterall...
